My father and I ate at This restaurant and we had a great experience. Here are the top 3 things:
1. Portions - the amount of food we received was unbelievable. We ordered fajitas for 2 and couldn't even finish it!
2. Cost - under $35 for two people to eat including non-alcoholic drinks was an amazing value.
3. Service, Christina from Romania was our server and she was on point. Attentive but not overbearing, sweet and good at her job
10/10 would come here again! -

I was impressed with the handmade guacamole, a little much lime, though. We got regular soft tacos, chorizo tacos chips and salsa. I ordered online and the order was ready right when I showed up. Perfect timing!

After some discussion with my neighbors on which restaurants we wished were open (during the Great Ice Storm of January 2018, where everything was shut down), a lot of them said they wanted Monterrey's! They highly recommended this place, so we decided to give them a shot the other night, when they were open, of course.
We started with the complimentary chips and salsa, and ordered a queso dip with jalepenos ($3). In general, if I don't like a restaurant's chips and salsa, it's a deal breaker for me. Fortunately, I like theirs! The chips are not too thin and the salsa was flavorful. The salsa could use more of a kick (spicy), but the jalepenos in the queso dip made up for it. My only gripe is that most of our chip basket had tiny, broken pieces.
For our entrees, we ordered the chilaquiles ($8) and chicken torta ($8). Normally, my SO gets his chilaquiles with salsa verde, but the menu states not to make any substitutions. He thought it was okay, but recommends not getting the grilled onions on top (his preference). I ordered the torta because I wanted something I could pack half for lunch the following day. The sandwich was okay but I prefer for my bread to be toasted.
Our waitress was friendly and came by often enough to ask if everything was alright, but never offered to get us more chips/salsa/water. I guess that's smart on her end, so that these things don't go to waste if we didn't want it.
Overall, it didn't live up to my neighbors' hype, but we will come back to try their other menu items. I hope their "Mexican" tacos are the legit stuff that you can find on Buford Highway, and not the Americanized ones! Someone please take pictures for the Yelp page if you've had it! -

I am so over this place! Tried for an hour to place a to-go order but could not get them to answer the phone. So I ordered Door Dash. Order came and was not correct (forgot the tortillas for the Carne Asada). My door dash guy was nice enough to return only to find them wanting him to pay for them! UNBELIEVABLE! As a patron of 10 years, I will not return. Too many options around here to put up with this terrible customer service!! Goodbye!
